“Hitchhiking is a means of transportation that is gained by asking people, usually strangers, for a ride in their automobile or other road vehicle to travel a distance that may either be short or long”. Hitchhiking may be fairly common practice worldwide, but in China, it is not. However, Wang Yong, a Chinese CEO, drives his Mercedes, voluntarily taking people who are stranded on to their destination. Most often, his good intentions are taken as ill intent. But there are some people glad for the ride, which for Mr Wang, make his efforts particularly worthwhile.
Why does Wang Yong, a successful businessman do this? It is not only because he likes helping others, but also because he is an environmentalist. He believes that if everyone were to share a car, there would be far fewer vehicles on the road.
In today’s interview, Wang Yong tells Kathy about his 10 years’ experience of ‘giving people a lift’. Moreover, his altruistic behavior helped him to find his true love and led to marriage! Are you interested in their romantic story?
Inspired by his word, Kathy decides to try hitchhiking. Will she succeed?
In this program, Jet Li lends support to Mr Wang by telling us that opening our car’s doors to other people is just like opening our hearts. Let’s share our cars, open our hearts and contribute to mutual environmental protection.
